Expanding on the interconnected themes of the exhibition and film programme State of Motion 2020: Rushes of Time, the Asian Film Archive presents a publication of over 13 essays and interviews – including artwork plates and archival images not seen in the exhibition.

The publication is co-edited by Cheng Jia Yun, Cheong Kah Kit, Guo-Liang Tan and Selene Yap, includes contributions by the following artists, filmmakers, guest writers and scholars: Liyana Ali, Cheng Jia Yun, Nick Deocampo, Arnika Fuhrmann, Rajendra Gour, Tada Hengsapkul, May Adadol Ingawanij, Koh Nguang How, Sonya Lacey, Philippa Lovatt, Russell Morton, Nguyễn Trinh Thi, Sriwhana Spong, Adele Tan, Lumi Tan, Kenneth Tay, Toh Hun Ping, Pat Toh, and Wong Bing Hao.

Responding to the conceptual potential of the filmic archive in four sections, the State of Motion 2020: Rushes of Time publication acts not only as visual documentation but makes an extended enquiry into ideas of time, bodies of memory, and the moving image.
